Myth: Eating Turkey Makes You Drowsy

Turkey does contain tryptophan, a type of amino acid which induces drowsiness. However, the amount of tryptophan in turkey is not nearly enough to cause drowsiness in human nor does turkey contain anymore tryptophan than in beef or chicken. The main reason why people feel drowsy after eating a meal is because of alcohol and carbohydrate rich meals consumed during Thanksgiving feast.
